The year 2009 marks the 32nd year of publication since the launch of HEADWAY magazine. Other magazines have come and gone, but for decades Headway was the only publication for and about hair and beauty care professionals.

It is still recognised as the most vehicle for advertisers, and by readers as the preferred source of images and information for local and international fashion trends. Leading NZ and international stylists recognise Headway as a quality presenter of their design images and regularly submit their best images exclusively.

From the modest 48 pages in black and white, inside a soft colour cover of the first issue, Headway has grown into a glossy colour magazine that can foot it with the best in the world.

Perfect binding, a stiff cello-glazed cover, full colour throughout and high quality glossy paper became the standard under Self Care ownership since 1990.

Headway reaches all hairdressing salons, beauty therapists and spas. It is also widely read by their clients (as indicated by an AGB/McNair survey, which showed readership around 70,000).
